So great to wake up with my husband beside me this morning. We are all up early in anticipation of our golf round at Indian Hills. I already insisted that we have to eat breakfast first and that makes it necessary for us to be up even earlier. There are only two bridges off of this island (Hutchinson Island) and today we must go to the northern bridge which Jack and Rich came over on their way in. We were on the hunt for a particular cafe, but when we got there it was closed. We remembered seeing a restaurant down by the marina and quickly turn around. We wind up at Captain’s Galley in Fort Pierce. No pics, but a super breakfast and a wonderful server. Time to get to Indian Hills Golf Club!
A local member is paired up with us and Frank is a great guide. He is an ex-cop from NY and fits the part perfectly. We had fun joking around on almost every hole. All of us made some great shots and some not so great shots…
It was pretty steamy out today. When we are finished both Jack and Rich are thinking “Milkshake!” Milkshakes are one of the things they both look for when they are riding. However, the both have very different ideas on what constitutes the “best.” Jack (a milkshake aficionado) swears they must be “creamy.” Rich loves them “icy.” Yelp finds us a place for milkshakes that is very close to our resort.
They were rich, CREAMY and awesome! I hope the guys find many more mikshakes on their way to Key West. It is possible that these will rank as the best of the trip.
Back to the condo for a nap, blogging, fixing a flat tire and generally piddlin’ around. A HUGE storm came through and we enjoyed seeing it through the glass. So glad we are finished golfing!
Dinnertime finds us consulting Yelp once again. We do not want to go far and are thinking pizza would be just about right. We settle on a place we had seen on the way back from golf. It is only about a 1 minute drive from “home.” The Surfside Grille is cute, cozy and buzzing with customers. Looks good.
Jack and I manage to cajole Rich into Vegetarianism for the night and we order 1 large veggie pizza to share. We supplement with salads and Rich has a cup of fish chowder. The pizza is very good – especially the home made crust. We chow down, drive home and call it a night. The plan is for the boys to be on the bikes by 7 in the morning. I won’t be too long after for m drive to Miami.
